Feel the Heart Beat of the Drum as Mother Earth Sings

Our artists capture images from nature and legend to combine with the spirit of the Native American drum.

Hand-held Native American hoop drums are perfect for drum circles, shamanic healing, meditation, and personal or ceremonial rituals.

This story will illustrate how to care for your drum.  For the best of care think of your drum as a baby.  You wouldn’t put your drum on a window ledge for the sun to shine through, over a heat register, leave in a car, etc:  (it can split the leather from the heat). You wouldn’t put a baby face down in the dirt as this is disrespectful to the Spirit of the drum.

Also very cold or damp places are not good for storage.  I always recommend a quality drum bag for carrying around as well as protection but I also hang several of my drums on pegs where they are not going to be hit by sun light.

That works quite well and lets you enjoy their natural beauty.  One last thing, out of respect, you wouldn’t put your Baby face down in the dirt!

When you need to heat your drum because it has gotten too damp and you get  a thud thud sound, heat it slowly.  Place your hand between the heat source and the drum head; if it is too hot for your hand, then it is too hot for the drum head. DO NOT prop your drum up in front of a fire and go off and leave it!  Also if you ever take your drum into a sweat lodge it will never hold the same sound again.  I have a sweat lodge drum and then my other drums for various uses.  If you have any questions about care or selection information please feel free to email:

These Painted Drums are laced onto a separate piece of rawhide for even pressure to prevent tearing. The drum handles are wrapped in recycled mink or leather and made so you can slide your hand underneath so it fits like a glove!

Generally you will find that the larger the drum, the deeper the tone. 18" leather or fur drumsticks (also known as "beaters") come with each drum.
The Special Drums have various types of tying of the rawhide.  All styles work well and each also comes with a drumstick.

Take time to know the Spirit of your drum and enjoy. They love to sing!
